Busy Times

I have a lot I have to say. I have it all written out... in my head. About Aqua Teen Hunger Force. About old folks. About vacations. About work. About American Idol. But no time today. Soon though. I promise.

Turtles

The Red-Eared Slider is a semi-aquatic turtle. It can be found mostly in and around Mississippi. Semi-aquatic means that it can live on both land and in the water. This turtle has red lines on the sides of its head.

The first thing my turtle needs is a tank. I need a tank 30 – 50 gallons. In the tank, I will need a log that 5 or 10 cm long or I will need a platform for my turtle to go on or both. I think it will be better to have a platform because a log cannot provide all that on a little log and the platform can provide all that stuff. The water should at least 1.5 to 2 times my turtle’s length. I also need a heater I need to use daytime uva/uvb fluorescent bulb for approximately 12 hours of light per day to help maintain the shell structure. I need a water filter. I have to keep the water fresh daily. Maybe I don’t need a water filter. I just need to refill the tank with new water. I don’t need a water filter if I just refill the tank with warm water. The water heater must maintain between 75-85 degrees F [23.8-30 c.] like a submersible re- calibrating heater.

What my turtle is going to eat is a whole different story. Of my course, my turtle will beg for food just like cats and tuna. If I get a baby turtle, it will need more vegetables until it is older.

What my turtle will eat is fish [guppies, gold fish, and minnows], earthworms, crickets, wax worms, silk worms, aquatic snails, bloodworms, shrimp and krill. For very small turtles, prey may have to cut up into smaller pieces. I shouldn’t feed the turtle lettuce it contains not much nutrition but dark green lettuce [e.g. romaine] can be feed sparingly. I will need to fill his bowl 3 times a week.

Seriously...

Really, there's nothing going on here. We spent the weekend cleaning. I'll try to think up something to say tomorrow.

TV Time

I watch so little TV now a days. My DVR used to be full of stuff, now only a few shows. None of the new ones really interest me. I watched the first episode of Dirt, the new drama with Courtney Cox (what happened to the Arquette?) on FX. It was not too wonderful. If you like lots of sexual conduct that has nothing to do with the plot, then by all means, watch Dirt. Also, watch Nip/Tuck… same channel, many boobs. David suggested that since it was the first episode, maybe they went overboard. So I have DVR’d the second episode of Dirt. I have not watched it yet. However, if it is anything like the first, it will be the last episode I watch. I only started watching it because I missed some other shows I wished had watched. I have never seen an episode of Sex and the City. Everyone says it was a great show and I missed it. I also wanted to watch Desperate Housewives. Nevertheless, I still have not. I think with that kind of soap opera you have to start watching at the beginning or you are lost.

Last night we watched The DaVinci Code. I read the book and liked it and the movie was good too. It is a very strange story. It is very controversial. If you are one of those very religious types, this probably will not be the story for you.

The kids are out of school today for Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. They are off tomorrow too for a teacher day. Very convenient I say. Carolynn was sick yesterday. She seems okay today.

Sick

Today I was sick and all I ate was graham crackers that my mom got at the store. She went for hamburger buns and she bought this too. And then I took a hot bath and I felt better.

Meh

January is not a very exciting month. It has been cold, windy and raining. Not that I would complain, I remember how it felt in Wisconsin. However, in Wisconsin I had coats, gloves, and all that cold weather gear. Here I have a few hooded sweatshirts. I still have a coat, the one known to all as the “Peg Bundy Coat”, but it is sort of a long formal coat with the fur trim. Not exactly something one throws on to run to the grocery store. I do love that coat though. My mom bought it for me when I first moved to Wisconsin.

We have been trying to stick to our plan to eat better and exercise. It is not going as well as planned. Okay, so we are making an effort. I replaced our ice cream with frozen yogurt. I replaced the chips and cakes with pretzels, popcorn and nuts. I replaced the pudding and candy with yogurt. I have David eating peanut butter and jelly in low fat tortillas. He has even been seen eating Lean Cuisine pizza! However, I think the thing I did that will work best (but is hardest on David) is I replaced the soda with Gatorade, juice and bottled water. Exercise is harder to come by. David gets more riding his bike to work and his job is much more physical than mine is. I sit at a desk. The farthest I walk all day is out to the mailbox. Sure, I get up; I take orders to the warehouse or go do other things. Nevertheless, it is basically a sitting job. By the time I get home I don’t want to exercise.

I put some Beatles songs on the video collection this week. Carolynn has been working on her posts too. The girls switched chores. Both of the girls thought the others chores were easier. I do not know what gave them that idea. We will see how long that lasts.

Chores

I have to do chores. My chores are unloading the dishwasher, cleaning the kitty box, an my bathroom. Catherine's chores are clean her room, clear the table and set the table and trash and recycle.

My chores stink. I don't like them. The kitty box is smelly. I am bored with unloading the dishwasher everyday. My bathroom is all covered in goo I don't even know and I am annoyed with having to wash it off.

Thief!

Yesterday something terrible happened... someone stole the flames off my car! Actually, I don't know when they were stolen. David swears he saw them there on Wednesday night. He worked overnight stocking. I can't remember if they were there when I left for work yesterday morning. But yesterday, on the way home from work, I stopped for gas and there they weren't! I have had those for two years. My mom got them for me when I got my car. It was how we could tell my car from the other billion silver PT Cruisers in any parking lot. But now my car is naked. It's sad.

Happy New Year!

Wow... here we are in 2007. Time sure flies. I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years Eve. I watched The Simpson's, just like I said. The girls should be home tomorrow. Carolynn's friends have been calling and calling. I think Mr. Wiggles misses Catherine. He keeps hanging out on her bed and meowing. I think she gives him treats. Today I am going to get cleaning. Figured I'd start the new year with a clean home. It probably won't last long, but it will be a start.

P.S. Anyone who takes all of what David wrote earlier seriously is dumber than I thought.

hai2u

hey team! happy new yarrrrs! i should get to the point, this year the plan is pretty simple. I am gonna communicate with my family some more, because you guys rock. I'd rather be talking with my dad, hes a good guy. took an old druggie friend to help me talk with him, but I'll take what i can get. It's difficult to get off my ass and take initiative to communicate with everyone, so if your feeling left out call me up, i <3 you all. and to those in Jennifer's life that think that holding a grudge and not communicating because the stick up your ass, take a hammer and put it through your brain so i don't have to hear from her about how much you suck.

gonna lay off the soda and the pizza, and work out some more, stop smoking, drinking, unprotected sex with anonymous partners, juggling burning knives, that are on fire, playing darts with forks in electrical sockets, jousting with lamps, and watching Jennifer's movie collection. man that last one sucks.
