School Daze

The kids are on Spring Break this week. I am counting the seconds until the little tornados return to school. They just blow through the place leaving mess and destruction and eating everything in sight.

I started school this week. Back to college for me. I am taking two classes that run the second half of the spring semester. One I have to go to. It is on Tuesday and Thursday nights on the Marine Base, Camp Pendleton. That is a math class. The other class in online and it is called Intro. To Multicultural Studies. The math class is so boring. The other class is okay. It’s not quite as boring. Both of these classes last until mid-May. In the summer, I am taking another math class and possibly one other. I don’t know yet.

Tonight we are going to Seaworld for a special members only show. It should be fun. I’ll let you know tomorrow.

A Thrilling Weekend

Nothing exciting happened this weekend. I did something I had not done in a long time. Nothing. Okay, I did a few things, but nothing really.

On Friday, Carolynn made me a carrot cake for my birthday. It was tasty. Then I took Carolynn over to the Wal-Mart to have her camp pictures developed. We also picked up a few things at the Fry’s for Carolynn’s computer. When we got home, we ordered pizza for dinner.

On Saturday, I took Carolynn to the doctor. She has a slight ear infection. We grabbed some tacos at the Taco Bell and just stayed home all day. Carolynn and I watched The Lake House. It was pretty good, but a little predictable. (Even Carolynn had figured it out about half way in.)

Sunday, I went nowhere. I watched Food Network all day and we made a roast for dinner. It was quite nice to just stay home after the last few weeks of weekend adventures.

Speaking of adventures, the girls are itching to go camping again. They got some new camping stuff from my mom (lanterns, flashlights, animal paper plates and forks, ect.) and they want to go out and use them. We have our next scheduled camping adventure planned for Memorial Day, but with the introduction of this new stuff, we are probably going to go sooner. Therefore, it seems likely that we will go camping on Easter weekend. Easter bunnies go to campsites, after all, bunnies live in the woods. Our vacation is still in the air. It is very likely we will not go until around Mother’s Day. However, we have a lot of fun things planned in the meantime. This weekend we may be heading back to Seaworld for a member’s only preview of the new shows. Then we will be camping the following weekend. In addition, we have another trip to Seaworld scheduled on Carolynn’s birthday with her and her friends, Kina and Jessica. It is a jam packed April coming up. Stay tuned for many fun filled adventures and pictures. (Especially pictures from Carolynn as she got her own digital camera from my mom.)

5th Grade Camp

On Monday I left for camp. I was gone until Friday. It was awsome.

Here I am at camp.

This is my cabin.

This is a picture of my three best friends. Jessica, Danielle, and Kina

This was our counselor we had in our cabin. She was weird.

I was going to climb this rock wall, but started raining so I couldn't.

This is me and my teacher. She went with us to camp.

I canoed on this lake.

Every morning at 6 I had to wake up and go out with the cabin and say the pledge of allegiance and then go to breakfast.

They called the paths weird names and one was called London. We went up the London.

We hiked up a big hill and this is what I saw from the top of it.

This a shelter we built out of sticks we found in the area. The boy sitting is my friend Daris, or "Big D" and the other boy is someone I don't know.

I also learned to shoot archery but I didn't get a picture.

Old

Today I turned 30. Okay, so I can admit that I am old. So what? You are only as old as you feel and I don’t feel any older that I was last week so what’s the big deal?

Today I have no big plans. I am at work. It’s exciting.

My mom, my sister, and Trish sent me cards for my birthday. Mike and Arturo, they work in the warehouse here, gave me cards too. My boss bought me lunch at Marie Callender’s. I ate chicken potpie. It was good. I’d like to say thank you to Trish, who sent me a really nice candle, and to my mom, who sent me a gift card for Barnes and Noble. I enjoyed them very much.

Carolynn gets home from camp today so be sure and check back in the next few days for pictures and stuff from her adventure at camp. Catherine was sick and missed school the last few days. Well, she was sick on Tuesday and Wednesday, but yesterday I think she may have been faking it. I made her go to school today even though she tried to tell me she might hack up a lung.

In other news, I am extremely disappointed in who was voted off American Idol this week. I am not saying that Stephanie would have won, but she definitely didn’t deserve to go home yet.

Well, that’s the news for today. I’m old. The End.

Idol Chat

I realised I haven't been writing about American Idol on here and that I had meant to. So here are my thoughts.

1. Why were there so many terrible singers in the top 24? Of the thousands upon thousands of people who came and auditioned, how did we end up with these? Are these really the best that America has to offer? I don't think so.

2. The girls are way better than the boys.

3. Why am I still looking at Sanjaya Malakar?
That guy is just terrible. I just don't see how he made it that far. I think the judges put him in the top 24 as a joke and then it backfired. Have you see the website VoteForTheWorst.com. They are purposely voting for him to get him as far as possible just for the fun of it. That kind of takes from the point of this competition, but it's a free country. It's no worse than millions of teenage girls voting for some guy that can't sing just because he is cute. (It's happened and you know it.)If I were in his place, and some website called Vote For The Worst was backing me, and I had become a national laughing stock, I'd just opt out rather than continue to embarass myself.

4. So far my favorites have been

Lakisha Jones

She has received the most of my votes so far.

Melinda Doolittle

Jordin Sparks

I voted for Jordin last night.

Tonight we take it down to the Top 10. I hope we can finally say goodbye to Sanjaya, but I doubt we will. I'd say Phil is next to go then. We will see tonight.

Seaworld

This weekend I went to Seaworld and first thing we did was go in and see the Pets Rule show. And then after the show we got to pet a little dog. He was cute.

Then we went to the wild arctic after. It was a moving helicopter ride. Then we went to this little play park in the Seaworld and we got to play for a little while. Then we went to the Shamu Show. It was awsome. We sat in the front so we got splashed with fishy water. And then we were soaked.

After that we got a new towel. Then we went to go eat and I had pizza and watermelon and a little bit of carrot cake.

And of course David ate pizza. After that we saw some sharks in the shark tunnel. There were sharks everywhere.

Then we saw the dolphin show. There was Dolly who jumped really, really high.

Then went to go see sea turtles and I got to touch a star fish.

Then we saw some otters. It was cool. Then mom and Catherine went to see the shark tunnel again and David and me went to wait for the last show we were gonna see. Once mom and Catherine got back we sat down at the show and then I got to go buy my souveniers with $20. I got two souveniers, a turtle and a walrus. Then we saw a show with sealions and they were funny. They kept on sticking out their tounges and the guy who was a sailor guy was funny too.

It was incredible. Then we went home.
The End.

The Shamu Show

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Today we went to Seaworld. We had a great time, well most of us. Catherine had this look all day. She didn't cheer up until it was almost time to go home.

First, we saw a pet show. It was cool. The dogs and cats were funny. There were a couple of funny little pigs too. Here is a picture of us getting up close with the animals after the show.

Next we rode the motion ride to see the arctic animals. I like that one. Here are a few pictures of us in the arctic.

Beluga Whales

Polar Bear

Here we are touching the ice.

Walrus

Next we went to see the Shamu show. I sat up out of harms way. This is where Carolynn, Catherine and David sat.

This is what happened. HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Here is the aftermath.

After Shamu, we had lunch. Then we saw the sharks. After the sharks, we saw a dolphin show. Here is Dolly the dolphin.

After that, we walked around a while. We saw sea turtles, sea otters, flamingos, and other fish. David and Carolynn went to get seats for the sea lion show and Catherine and I went to see the sharks again. She finally cheered up then. I bought her a stuffed shark at the shark shop. Then we saw the sealion show. It was funny.

After that we headed home. Carolynn got a couple of stuffed sea critters too. Everyone had a great time.

The Camp Adventure

At first we started driving along the desert and it was fun and hot. We stopped in the middle of no where to let David pee. Then once we got there we set up our tents and sleeping bags and got everything in there.

We made lunch. I had some Spaghetti-O's. Then we went hiking. We saw numbers that told us what the things were at the numbers.

Then we just hung out until dinner. We made hot dogs on the fire. And then we made s'mores. Last, we went to sleep. It took Catherine a long time because she drank a lot of soda. The next morning we had eggs and bacon on our little stove. Then me and Mom went hiking again. This time it was a 2 mile hike. Then after we went hiking we started packing up and then we left. It was a fun adventure. I want to do it again.

The Great Outdoors

Yesterday we took off on our first camping adventure. We drove out to the Anza-Borrego State Park. It was quite a drive. We went up and down mountains, all along twisty turning roads until finally we reached the desert. Here is a picture we took from a look out right before we got there.

Then we went to the visitor’s center (mostly because I had to pee) and looked around the museum. I got a new magnet for my collection. After that, we headed to our campsite. First Carolynn set up her tent, then Catherine set up her tent and finally we all pitched in to set up the big tent. Here is a picture of our campsite.

This is Carolynn and her tent.

This is Catherine in her tent.

Then we had some lunch. Here is Carolynn cooking up some Spaghetti-O’s on our camp stove.

After lunch, David and Catherine relaxed at the camp and Carolynn and I went on a hike. Here are a few pictures.

After our hike, we built ourselves a fire and roasted hot dogs and then some marshmallows for s’mores. After our fire died down, we all got in the big tent and played with our Game Boys. We played card games too. Then we all went to sleep. Everyone slept in the big tent. The little tents were just for fun. This morning we woke up early and made some eggs and bacon for breakfast on our camp stove. Here is a picture of David cooking eggs.

Then Carolynn and I went on another, longer hike. Here is a picture of Carolynn on the trail.

We saw lots of lizards on the trail, but they were too qucik to get pictures. Luckily, the lizards on our porch are not so shy.

After we got back from our hike, we packed up and headed home. It was great. It was peaceful and there was plenty of fresh air. We have already made plans to go camping on Memorial Day weekend. We already booked a campsite in Julian.

A Weird Day

I'm still AM safety this week. My mom and I think it's better if I am PM safety so she doesn't have to wake up the extra 15 minutes. I like PM because I don't have to get up so early in the morning. My job at safety is Moon. My mom thought you stand on the corner and actually moon people, but Moon is a street. I have to stand at the end and let people cross.

At school it was boring. I had to run a mile today for PE testing next week.

For dinner we had chicken and rice. The chicken breasts were so delicious and filling. I barely ate one.

Disappointment and Adventure

Well, we are not going on our vacation this weekend. Everyone is a little bummed about it but it was unavoidable. Unfortunately, my boss had to leave town unexpectedly due to a family emergency. His mother has been hospitalized and is already in poor health. Therefore, he will not be back until next week sometime. I think we would have felt worse had he stayed for our vacation and the worst happened to his mom. However, we are a resilient family. We have already rescheduled our vacation for April and are planning a fun adventure for this weekend.

This weekend we are going on our very first camping trip. I am not an avid camper. I have only been camping twice before. David seems more experienced in the camping knowledge. The rest of this week, we are gathering supplies and on Saturday morning, we leave for our trip. We are going to Anza Borrego State Park. It is in the desert so it will not be cold, but it is still early in the year so it will not be too hot. We have the site reserved and the kids are excited.

Even though we are postponing the vacation we had planned, we are still going to have a fun and exciting adventure this weekend. We can’t wait.

Camping

This weekend I'm going camping to the desert. We're going to need lots of stuff. I want to get a tent all to myself or I can share one with Mom and David. We're going to make delicious s'mores

Tomorrow I'm going to a book fair from 5:00 to 6:45. 6:00 to 6:45 is a story teller.

Today nothing exciting happened at school.

We had excellent chicken today for dinner.

My Routine

This is my little routine. But I squeeze things in. First I get ready for school. Then I go there and learn. After, I eat dinner. Last I go to bed. These are the things I squeeze in. Snacks, play, eat ice cream, and sing and dance. Cow is almost shiny like snow because David didn't use bleach. David's weird.

Chores

Today we did 2 tests. They were easy. Once I got to write two stories for two pictures. And I had 0, now I have 18 points. David has 20. Mom has 4 and Carolynn has 44. Carolynn can get a present. Carolynn is winning.
