So this video is on You Tube. The reason...

The song on this video is apparently owned by Universal Music Group. They would prefer I post it on You Tube so they can better monitor it. Is that not the strangest thing? It's a copy right thing. I guess they want to control it to make sure I am not trying to take credit for it. I give full credit for this song to Andrew Lloyd Weber and the original London cast of Phantom of The Opera. I am not getting any money from it. I didn't use it for a commercial and there are no ads on my blog. Just FYI.

Blog Of The Week #3

This week’s Blog Of The Week is called Life Of An Obsessive Reader. Well, that is what it is called now. It has been called many things over the years. This is the blog of my dearest friend Trish. Trish got me started with my first blog way back when. Way back when it only had a few design choices and no pictures or anything. Way back when we were young and hopeful. Way back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. If it were not for the internet, we might not have been friends for so long since we both move around so much. Right now, we live on opposite coasts.

Trish has been doing her blog since 2004 or maybe longer. Maybe 2004 sounds about right. She writes about varying topics; being a Marine Wife, her kids, her dogs, being a college student, and books. A lot about books. She has some serious book issues.

Trish and I started an online book discussion group in December. So far, it has been going pretty well. We do not have a huge active member list, but those we do have I enjoy. It is fun and we get to try books we might not have read ourselves.

Trish and I have been friends since 2000 and I see no plans for us to stop anytime soon. So check out her blog. It has always been listed on my sidebar, currently as “A Womans Blog Is Her Obsession”.

Sun and Pool

Today we went to Pala to see my parents and Grandpa and my sister was there too. The girls swam in the pool for five hours. Carolynn drank four or five margaritas. Catherine was so wrinkled from being in the pool so long. She did not get out to eat or anything. She is a little sun burned. I lotioned her up before she got in. I put some aloe on her when we got home.

My sister Wilma Sarah and I went to Casino Pauma because you only have to be 18 to play there. She lost but I won some. It was fun.

I didn’t take enough picture to make a video, but here they are anyway. Enjoy.

I Am Like So Mature

blog readability test
Well, at least I am smarter than a fifth grader.

Bridge to Terabithia

I finished Bridge to Terabithia it was a good book. It's about a boy named Jess and he wants to be the fastest boy in 5th grade but a new girl comes named Laslie and beats everybody and then they become best freinds. Jess at Christmas gives her a puppy and she names it Prince Terrien and Leslie gives him a paint set. At My favorite part was when he built the bridge to Terabithia. The sad parts are when Leslie died well Jess was at the Gallery or when he walks her sister down the brige to meet the new princess to Terabithia.

Silent Change

I saw a commercial that made me change my theme. What do you think the commercial was for and what do you think is on my header?

I am sick. I lost my voice, which is okay because my head is all stuffy so I would have sounded dumb anyway. The girls are all stuffy too.

Also, I added a new badge to my sidebar today.

Blog Of The Week #2

This week’s blog of the week is called Carolynn’s Ocean View and it is all about Carolynn, my daughter, who will be 12 tomorrow.

Carolynn has been blogging off and on since November 2006. She writes about stuff she does mostly. Sometimes I make videos for her. Recently she has gotten a little more involved. In December, she tried the Holidailies challenge. She did not make it but it was a heck of an effort. She is also participating in the TBR Challenge. She is doing very well on that so far, much better than I am in fact. She has a Shelfari profile and has been toying with the idea of staring a group within my book group for kids to read a book together every month.

Carolynn loves sea life. She especially loves turtles. She has a pet turtle named Little Dude. She also enjoys running. She was on her schools cross-country team this fall. In January, she ran in the Keebler Kid’s Marathon. This May she will be running in the Kids Magic Mile.

It is interesting to see the blogging world through Carolynn’s eyes. She tried My Space, but she did not like it. She said it was dumb and not as fun. Her friend Kina was inspired to make her own blog too. She is really into Webkinz. That is an online game. Next year she will be a teenager. Pretty soon the only way I will know anything about her, will be to read her blog. Talking to your mother will be soooooo un-cool. (Insert kid rolling her eyes in my direction here)

*************************************

On another note, Carolynn's party video is up on her site. And check Catherine's site for an adventure to an Avocado Festival today.

Happy Birthday Carolynn!

My Day At The Avocado Festival

Today me and my mom only went to the Avocado Festival. We bought delicious avocado bread.

We had to park by a Burger King and walk to the festival because there were a lot of people. We looked at some shops. One shop had avocado soaps and we sniffed them. We saw a shop with all lots of signs. We ate festival winner guacamole. It was called Holy Guaca-Moly.

It was so good.

Then we walked to some more shops. We saw some camping stuff with canopies. Then we bought a guacamole bowl. It had avocados on it.

I got a tee shirt at a shop that says avocado festival. Then we walked down and we saw a rock and mineral museum.

Then we saw a giant avocado and I had my picture taken by it.

Then we walked all the way around the whole festival and I tried a mango-strawberry slushie thing. It was delicious. On our way out we bought some avocados to take home. Then we walked all the way back to our car. When we were driving home we bought some stuff at the Jack In The Box. My day was awesome. Then my legs hurt. When were at home we made guacamole with our avocados and put it in our new bowl. It was tasty. I ate Dodger Dogs for dinner. They were tasty too. Then I played with my doll dalmatian Lucky.

Tea For Five

Carolynn is having her birthday tea today. Three of her friends plus her and Catherine. First, we had a fancy dinner. I made a mushroom and chicken casserole, by Carolynn's request. We also had cauliflower, salad, and rolls. The girls drank champagne (sparkling apple juice) in my pink wine glasses that I got from my Grandma. After dinner, we had tea in our fancy rose tea set and I made pink cupcakes. Carolynn got some cool stuff; a couple of Webkinz (one from Kina, one from David), Catherine got her a 101 Dalmatian puppy (it's Rolly), she got a couple of new tops from her friend Brianna, new jammies from Monica, and a Wii game, and two CD's. She also got a few books in the mail and some money! Right now David took them out to the hot tub. This has apparently turned into a sleep over, though one of the girls went home. There are still two. Tomorrow, look for a movie of the adventure. It will probably have Hairspray music!

Blog Of The Week

I came up with is idea sometime last week and I had to plan it out and think it over before I announced it. Anyway, here it goes. Every Sunday, I will feature a blog I have found, why I enjoy it and why you should read it too. (I was going to make it every Friday, but I always get so busy on Fridays. Besides, I do two memes in a row Wednesday and Thursday and I thought that it might be too much.) I even made a nifty little digital award to go with it. I believe that blogs are a great way of communication. It is personal and fun. It gives you a place to be just you and to share with the rest of the world. It is also a great way to meet other interesting bloggers and make some new e-friends.

In choosing my very first Blog Of The Week, I really had to think it over. I read about ten blogs pretty regularly. I could easily have started with my mom’s blog because she is new and she is my mom. I could have chosen Trisha’s blog because she is the one who helped me start my first one several years ago. I could have chosen Carolynn’s blog or Catherine’s blog because they are my kids. However, in the end, I chose Carla’s Blog.

Carla, (also known as Eve in my book group), has not been blogging for a long time. She started her blog in September of last year. She is in her late 50’s and married. Her husband is quite a bit older than she is, in his late 70’s and resides in a long-term care facility. They have one daughter and four grandkids. The whole clan resides in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Carla lives with her daughter and grandkids.

Why do I like this blog? It is because Carla inspires me. Despite the fact that she has some health problems or her husband is no longer able to live at home, she still finds the good in the world. She uses many great pictures and bright colors. Despite the age difference between her and me, we have a lot in common. Besides the fact that we are in the same book group, she enjoys taking pictures and cooking. And of course blogging.

So this week, our blog of the week is Carla’s blog, called Adamswife’s Weblog. Check it out. She usually has something new daily. She participates in several meme’s including Wordless Wednesday and Thursday 13, which I also do. She does Haiku Friday, which is very creative. Last November, she also completed NaBloPoMo.

Good luck Carla with that blog. I hope you enjoy doing it as much as I like reading it. I cannot wait to see what comes next.

Come back next week to see who our new Blog of the Week will be.

The Sky Diving Genius Is Proud To Be Here

I had a nice long post I have been working on all week that I had planned to put up today. A blog about bloggers. But something else got in my way. Here is the story...

I took some pictures today so I would have some to put up for this weeks Wordless Wednesday. I plugged my camera into my computer to download my pictures. It was taking a lot longer than it should. When it was finally done I went to examine my pictures and found some video that someone had filmed with my camera and left on there. I have decided to share with you fine folks the video I found.

This isn't the first time I have found video that Catherine made. I am sure we all remember the "Do you see this fist?" video. If you missed it, check it out here. If you didn't miss it, feel free to watch it again because it is still funny.

My child has such an active imagination.

Look for my blogger post tomorrow.

Little Housein the Big Woods

I finished Little House in the Big Woods! Its about a girl named laura who lives with her Pa and Ma, which she calls them, and her sisters, Mary and Baby Carrie. They live in a log house and how they live in Wisconsin. My favorite part was when the dad thinks the log is a bear and attacks it. Also when they first seen the store. Also when Laura loses her pocket from all the rocks she had. Plus when grandma does the maple jig and they had maple sugar with snow .There is no sad parts though, and now I,m reading Bridge to Terabthia.

Fiesta

Tonight we had tacos for dinner. They were fabulous. I love Mexican food.

Today a couple of hoodlums were causing trouble in our apartment building. They are always causing trouble; skateboarding in the parking lot, throwing rocks at windows, running all around acting like general jerks. I am counting the days until I can leave these craptacular apartments and move my family somewhere nicer. In fact, I put a counter at the bottom of my page.

Tomorrow I am trying out a new meme. This one is called Wordless Wednesday. Look for it tomorrow. Then of course one Thursday, look for my 13 list for the Thursday 13.

World War III

It's so hard to sleep when you can clearly here every word your neighbors are shouting.

He Says: "Shut Up and quit your bi---ing!"
She Says: "You wouldn't know love if it bit you on the a--!"(bang, bang, pow)
He Says: "I am sick of your s---!"(bang, pow, slam)
She Says: "I hate you! I never loved you and you have a small d---!"(bang, bang, slam)
(WOW! That was a bit below the belt!)
He Says: "Well, you'd know seeing how you f---ed everyone in town!!"(slam, bang)

(inaudible yelling)
(more bangs)
(more screaming)

She Says: "GET OUT!"
He Says: Something I didn't quite catch

Bang
Slam
Slam
BOOM
Slam
Stomp
Gate Slam
Car Starts
Screeching Tires

So you think it's over? Nope. I thought so too and went back to bed. But he came back. Then more screaming, more yelling (mostly about him going out and her spending money) more banging, another boom, the door slams, the gate shuts, and the car starts again.

I am hoping that is the end of it. I can't tell if it is the people next to me or under me. I never hear this stuff before and the people under me are new.

I'm going to bed again. I hope this time it sticks.

Catching Up

Today I was catching up with some stuff I needed to get done. I did some cleaning and am doing laundry. Tonight I finally made that chicken fried steak for dinner. We have to get the turtle tank fixed up. You know, moving with a turtle and two cats (and possibly a smelly ol’ hound dog) sounds like a fun time.

My sister went to South Carolina this week to see her boyfriend husband graduate from boot camp. She sent me this picture yesterday. Chris looks okay, but seriously, my sister’s hair looks like a wig. I think it is the same color as Wilma Flintstone’s.

On another thing I needed to catch up with, I finally finished my video of Trish and me on our vacation. I went a little artistic on it, so hopefully you enjoy it.

Carlsbad Flower Fields

Flowers Of Spring

Today Carolynn and I went on an adventure to the Carlsbad Flower Fields. We had a fabulous time. We visited all the different stuff. Carolynn got a map and she got to stamp it at each spot. My favorite part was the rose garden. It was a little early for most roses but there were a bunch of pretty ones. Carolynn went into a sweet pea maze. She got lost and I had to go in and rescue her. At the end of her stamp thing she got to pan for gold in a mining trough. She got some neat polished rocks. We ate some kettle corn. It was yummy. I had some at NASCAR with my Grandpa and I liked it, so Carolynn and I split a bag. We took a tractor ride around the flower field after we walked all around. Then on the way out we got a bunch of flowers to take home.

Today was Red Hat Ladies Day at the flower fields. There were women in cool red hats everywhere. I want to be a red hat lady. I looked it up on the internet. It is just a group for women to hang out and have fun. That sounds good to me. However, to wear the red hats you have to be 50 years old or older. I would be a junior, and wear a pink hat. It might be a fun and interesting way to meet new people when I move somewhere new. My mom should totally be a red hat. I am sure they have chapters in her area. Check out their website.

Near the flower fields there are huge strawberry fields. You can go there and pick your own. Carolynn and I bought a box pre-picked to go. The strawberries are huge. We made strawberry shortcake tonight.

I made a fabulous video of our adventure; however, Carolynn already called it for her website. I will have to say it is one of my best works. However, you will have to check out Carolynn’s page to see it.

Saturday Morning Cartoons…

… just aren’t what they used to be. When I was little, all the best cartoons came on Saturday morning. It was a reason to get up extra early, sneak into the livingroom, and watch cartoons while eating all the Crunchberries out of a box of Cap’N Crunch. This morning I awoke to the sound of my neighbors fighting and slamming doors. Woo.

Last night I did not do any of the things I said I was going to. Due to unfortunate circumstances I do not wish to discuss, I became queasy and achy and no longer felt like cooking chicken fried steak or going to the grocery store. David saved the day with pizza. Then a hot bath and a cup of tea later I was fine again.

Today I plan to take Carolynn to the Carlsbad Flower Fields. It is kind of a gloomy day for flowers, but it will have to do. Then I plan on going to the grocery store and making chicken fried steak for dinner… provided I do not get hurt again. I do not want to talk about it.

Fabulous Friday

So yesterday's foray into the world of the meme was a success. I got to check out a lot of cool new bloggers and I got some comments from some new people. My mom gave it a go too and also got some new hits and a couple of comments. I am so excited. I am already thinking up lists for future Thursdays and I can’t wait to try out my other meme on Wednesday.

Tomorrow I am taking Carolynn to the Carlsbad Flower Fields. I have never been and it would be a shame to live this close and never go. Catherine would be bored and David would say looking at girly flowers isn’t manly enough, so they aren’t going. They will probably sit around playing Wii while we are gone.

All day on the radio they have been going on and on about the Padres vs. Dodgers game tonight at PetCo Park. They are broadcasting live from downtown near the stadium. I have never been in there, but my mom says they have the best nachos of all the ball parks she has been to.

Tonight’s big plan involves going grocery shopping and making chicken fried steak for dinner. I know. Exciting.

Thursday Thirteen

Look! I joined a meme. Actually, I joined two, but the other is a Wednesday one. I got these two from Adam's Wife, a blog by a really great gal in my book group. I thought this would be an excellent way to get more readers. I also thought my mom could try it too so she could get some readers for her new blog. I have done Booking Through Thursday's meme, but only when filling in for Trisha. Now I am embarking on my first of my own! Here goes.

Nagging In A Nutshell

I know, I haven’t been writing like I used to. After my vacation, I got back to work and had a lot of catching up to do. By the time I got that caught up, March was over. That means a month end and a quarter ends. So I was busy again. Now I am all caught up at work. Also, Spring Break ended and I got three big projects for school, one in each class. On top of that I have regular life and the kids and everything, so I guess I have been slacking here.

Maybe it’s not me… maybe it’s you folks with nothing better to do than to read my little ol’ blog.

I am not the only one who has been slacking either. Carolynn finished another book she hasn’t reviewed yet. She also took a bunch of cool trips over spring break she hasn’t written about that yet either. Not to mention, she is having a birthday soon and it planning a fancy tea. Catherine finished a book to review last night and began a new one. I haven’t been keeping up with my good and bad reports, but Catherine has been pretty even over all… not too bad, but not that good either. She popped the lens out of her glasses and I almost had a heart attack, but it didn’t break and was quickly fixed. I noticed Trisha’s blog hasn’t been as frequently updated. But she has been sick and she too has a life. She just yesterday uploaded some of her vacation pictures. I know I promised a vacation video. It’s coming soon. I promise. By the end of this weekend you will be able to have a video of our chick vacation.

Someone who has been blogging regularly, my mom! Yep, she started a blog and it’s pretty good too. Be sure and stop by and leave her a comment. She has been writing about baseball. My parents and Grandpa are huge baseball fans. My grandpa is a huge fan of any sport really.

I gave up writing about American Idol. Carolynn and I just weren’t into it this year. There is not anyone we really liked. They are all pretty good, but nothing so special we feel compelled to watch and vote.

I have been watching a few movies lately. Recently I got No Reservations on DVD. I enjoyed it. It’s a chick flick for sure. David got I Am Legend on DVD for Easter. I thought the movie was pretty good, but I felt like something was left out. It made me want to read the book to see if it is in there. I added it to my ever growing list of books to read. I wonder if they have a book delivery service like Netflix for books. If not, I should start one. They have one for video games like that I know. Carolynn got Enchanted for Easter. She and I saw that one at the theaters with Aunt Paveena. Catherine and David watched it for the first time. Catherine enjoyed it. David said it was cheesy. I agree. I got Across the Universe on DVD, but I have not watched it yet. Tuesday we got Sweeney Todd on DVD. Carolynn loved it. She said it is her second favorite movie (first being Hairspray). I liked it, but it was very bloody. Anyone who has seen the stage play knows the songs, but when there is killing it is done mostly off stage or in the dark. It scared Catherine.

This weekend, we plan to continue to clean out the apartment and make a donation to Goodwill. This is in preparation of our upcoming move at the end of June. I want to move only the good stuff. I don’t want to move crap we don’t need. Moving is expensive as it is without the added junk.

Speaking of expense… If anyone has cheap easy meals we could try, send them our way. I get sick of the same old stuff. But I don’t want to get too fancy because I am trying to save for the big move. I turned my Easter ham into 5 dinners… Easter dinner, ham sandwiches, au gratin potatoes with ham, a ham and egg casserole, and I used the bone to make a navy bean soup.

Okay people, that is my life in a nutshell. Enjoy.
