And Then It Ends...

I made it! NaBloPoMo 2010 is in the bag. That wasn't too bad. But that is because I planned and scheduled posts in advance.

Today being the last day doesn't mean I quit forever or anything. I still have several posts scheduled. Plus I am sure I will have more to say as time goes along.

I am just glad to be done. The pressure was getting to me.

Thanks for hanging in there with me and I hope all you other NaBloPoMo-ers had as good of luck as I did.

And just so you know, Catherine did it too so check out her blog- Catherine In The Zoo

Picky People

David is a very picky person. So is his sister Gena. Next week Gena and Robbie are coming for a visit to do some holiday decorating and to have some dinner. I am planning on making enchiladas, rice and beans. David doesn't eat beans or anything remotely spicy. Gena doesn't either.

We will also make Christmas cookies. David likes peanut butter, Robbie likes white chocolate with macadamia nuts, and Gena likes sugar cookies.

Tonight we had steak with mushroom sauce. David ate his steak plain. We also had roasted asparagus. Carolynn and I could eat that every week. David won't. He tried it once. I think. Catherine tried it once. She doesn't it either. Then we tried an eggplant dish. It was eggplant "pasta". The eggplant was the pasta. It also had tomatoes, basil and cream sauce. I liked it. Carolynn said it was okay. Catherine wouldn't try it. David said it tasted okay, but it felt like squid. I find that silly. It had an unusual texture, but not like squid. David likes calamari anyway.

I am not picky. I will try anything. I don't like lima beans. I don't like super spicy food. I like to be able to taste things. I don't care for coconuts. But that's all I can think of.

I did more stuff

I went to school and it was a half day.All week we have half days.I came home and did my homework and sat on my butt.

Tired

I am trying to make a dinner and grocery list and I can hardly keep my eyes open. I was going to go to bed and then I remembered November wasn't over and I didn't want to miss one. It's almost over.

Anyway, I worked at the camp today. I missed those kids. The inmates were something else though. I didn't miss them.

I have errands to run tomorrow. Two days off just for me! Maybe I will work on some Christmas decorations.

Good Night!

Return Of The Gobble

Thursday, we had Thanksgiving again. This time Nicole cooked. She did a turkey in a crock pot. It was good. She also did green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, stuffing and rolls. David loved her potatoes. She seasoned them different than I do. And she had a raspberry swirl cheesecake that was AWESOME! It was a quicker meal than Sunday because my brother had to leave for work at 6:00 PM and I didn't get off of work until 4:00 PM. But you know, we were together. That it what it is all about.

After dinner, we came home with 5 people instead of 4. Allison joined us. She stayed over two nights and played with the girls, played on the computer, and watched cooking shows with me.

David's sister came for a visit on Friday night and went home this afternoon. Gena had given Carolynn a PSP a while ago and Carolynn spent all her allowance on a game. Turned out the PSP didn't work. So Gena went and picked Carolynn up a "new" used PSP. Carolynn was so excited and has been playing it all afternoon.

There is a storm on the way. And it is cold.

I have nothin to say

Today in the evening I went to Cady's house and stuff...thats pretty much it.

Fridayness

In two days I have to go back to school. That sucks, waaaaaaaaaaah!

A Day In The Life

Dancing To The Music

It was a 10:00 PM count. Inmates are not required to be standing for this count. Another officer and I are conducting this count in the Special Housing Unit. I count and then she counts. I go down the row and she waits at the end. Then I wait and she goes down the row. Everyone is accounted for.

We move on to the next row. I go down one side and start coming back down the other side. About half way down I see him. He is alone in the cell. He is naked and dancing near the shower. I pretended I didn't see anything. I continued to count. When I got back to the end I started laughing. I warned the other officer. She walked began her count the same way I had. But when she got to that inmate's cell, she saw nothing. He was sitting on the toilet and was all covered. She had already seen that inmate's business. That show was all for me.

I feel so special.

Another Classic

This is a video I found on my camera around Christmas 2006 or 2007. Carolynn is obviously the camera operator. I don't know why no one is wearing pants. I don't know what was the deal with the cat.

This video is titled "The Blair Witch Kitty Project". It is very funny. Check out Catherine's Jello handling skills.

Insurance Woes

I have dental insurance. In March, I went for a cleaning and a filling. I paid $170 at the time of the service. I also paid another $70 for X-Rays. I was cool with it.

Tonight a lady from that dentist called and said I owed $180 more. Why?, I asked. She said because my dental insurance didn't cover my services. That didn't sound right. What was I paying $51 every two weeks for if it didn't cover anything?

So I tried to call the insurance company. They are only open eastern time and they were closed. So I got on the website. According to the website, x-rays and cleanings are covered at 100% and the filling was covered at 80%.

What the hell kind of filling costs $410 after the insurance paid the other 80%?

Monday

I hate Mondays. They are very boring. Its almost the end of the year and at the begining of the year I said I would grow 1 foot.I was 4'3",now I'm 4'5".That's not a foot but it is 2 in. which I think is good...no...no it is not.I'm the shortest 6th grader out of 2 and a half classes.(Mrs.Collin's class,Mrs.Rozhon's class, and half of Mr.Hunt's class, because only half of his class is 6th graders.)grrrrrrrrrrrrrr...I hate being short.

Happy Thanksgiving

I know it's a little early, but today was Thanksgiving at out house. My brother, Joe, his wife, Nicole and their kids, Allison and Nathan came to have dinner with us. It was so good. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, corn on the cob, rolls, and cranberry sauce. We drank sparkling cider out of fancy glasses. Nathan wandered around gnawing on a corn on the cob and a roll while watching Mickey Mouse. Then he stopped for some mashed potatoes. We all ate until we thought we would explode.

Then we played some Wii. I have Wii Party and I love it. It was so much fun. Catherine is a bit of a sore loser though. All Nathan wanted to do was spin in the desk chair. Then we had pie. We had pumpkin pie, cherry pie and a Dutch apple pie. I feel so full and sleepy.

I didn't get any good pictures though. My camera wasn't charged. I thought it was charging but no. Stupid technology. This was the only picture I got and it's not that great...

Nathan was hiding in the cupboard. But he came out when I got the camera. He is such a ham. I think Catherine might have gotten some pictures of him and Allison spinning in the desk chair.

Thanksgiving Part 1

Today we are having Thanksgiving early because my mom has to work on Thursday.:( My aunt Nicole,my uncle Joe,and my cousins Allison and Nathan are coming too.On Thursday we are going to their house. So the food sells really good, but we can't eat it until later.I'm so hungry.

Uuuuuuuuuuh...

Nothing goin on,just sittin and stuff.

Where's The Romance?

Recently I read Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. It was okay. I had never read one of his books before. But I know a lot of people who have. I don't think I will read any more.

I was expecting some great love story. Everyone I know who had read his books said they were amazing. They were tear-jerkers. They were some of the greatest love stories of all time. Umm... no. What I got was dumb college students, a depressing soldier and the dumb chick that dumped him for doing the honorable thing. And then it ended and no one was happy. I don't think I will watch the movie either. I was not impressed.

Now I am reading Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz. So far it is pretty good. I'll keep you informed.

Yay

Today was the last day of school before Thanksgiving Break and it was totally awesome! We watch a movie at school,"Where The Red Fern Grows",I cried at the end it was very sad,but the rest of the day was fun.We didn't do any actual school work,we watched the movie, then we did art for the rest of the day.So it was a very good day.Yes I cried during the movie but I it was very sad,and if I told you what happened you would cry to.(I can't tell you because I don't know if you have read the book or watched the movie)

A Day In The Life

It's Not My Fault I'm Short

It was count time. Those of you who are regular readers already know that inmates are counted at various times throughout the day. Inmates are generally locked into their cells and, during the day, are required to stand up to be counted.

So I am counting along with another officer. (As I have said before, two people always count.) We get about 9 cells over and there is an inmate standing in the window. (Don't worry, he is dressed.) He is very tall and wide and is taking up the whole window. Yes, he is standing. Yes, I can see him. However, the cells are built for two. I can not see around him and see if he has a cellmate in there.

I ask him to move. He won't. He says he is alone. I know this to be a lie. So again, I tell him to move. He says his cellmate is fine and I should move on. Again, I tell him to move. He moves an inch. I still can't see. I tell him again to move. Finally he moves. He says it's my fault I couldn't see. I am too short. The other officer who is with me comes behind me to count.

Again, the inmate is taking up the window. Again he is told to move. He moves, but he says something rude to the other officer.

The inmate was just being a giant jerk. So I wrote him up.

Today was normal.Got up,Rode to school on my bike, learned, ate, learned, went to drama practice, went home, and sat on my butt. That is it.

Pure Classic

This is a video of Catherine supposedly cleaning. It was taken about 3 years ago. Basically, we had sent her to the room she and Carolynn shared. She had made such a mess and she didn't want to clean it up. Unknown to us, she found an old camera in there and was making this video rather than clean. We found it days later. And it is so classic. I know I have posted it several times before, but I never get tired of it. I will be showing this video to her kids.

Worst Day EVER!!!

Today was horrible!A girl named Elizabeth was blaming me all day, for punching her little brother when I never did!She told the principal and the bus driver and the bus driver finally asked her little brother and he said it wasn't even me!!!Then at recess a really annoying boy that I hate hit me in the head with a rock and it really hurt!Grrrrrrr...

Heavy Drinking

So I was thinking about drinking. Not drinking right now, but in general. I am not much of a drinker. Seriously, I bought a bottle of Bacardi like a year ago and it isn't even open. I do enjoy an occasional margarita with some enchiladas. But what has been on my mind today has been wine.

My friend Trisha ordered some fabulous wine for her Thanksgiving feast. One of my favorite blog buddies, Nicole at Red Lotus Mama is always chatting about wine. There are plenty of stories about wine being good for your health. So I was thinking about giving it a go. I cook with wine often. I just buy whatever the cheapest one is when need some to cook with.

I have actually drank some wine and a few have tasted pretty good. But I couldn't tell you what kind they were. I could give you a basic color. I don't know what kind goes with what foods. So I have been doing some research.

At Winco, after much personal debate, I got a bottle of Zinfandel. That's a red one. Red wine is supposed to be good for your heart right?

Trisha sent me this website and I have been checking these out. Maybe I will find something awesome. And if it helps my health...

Cheers!

Switched

David and I switched vehicles. Yep, I traded my Pt Cruiser for David's really old 1980's Jeep truck. But there was a reason.

David drives more. David drives farther. I drive about 24 miles round trip to work and back. David drives 44 miles a day just getting Carolynn back and forth to school. Then he drives another 17 miles on days she goes to swim practice. This doesn't include stops for groceries, various places to pick up and drop off Catherine, and other errands. The PT Cruiser gets better gas mileage, has heat and air conditioning and fits everyone in comfortably.

The truck is old. It rattles. It is drafty. I get all bundled up in the morning to drive it. But I am only going to work. That is it.

The truck gets a lot of comments at work. People either make fun of it for it's old and terribleness or they want it. It's funny like that. I don't worry about it sitting there at work. Everyone knows that it is my hunk of junk and with that many officers walking around, I highly doubt anyone would mess with it.

It runs pretty good. I can't complain. It never costs much to fix when it breaks. Our mechanic is amazing at finding the old parts.

I miss my cruiser though. I still drive it on my days off and stuff, but it isn't the same. Only a few more payments and that baby is all mine.

Grrrrrrrr to David

David won't let me do anything because I accidentally lost a couple peices to a Monopoly game.Grrrrrrr...

Today

My mom picked me up from Cady's House and we went to Petsmart and Carl's Jr. so,that is it.

Nothing Else I Feel Like Writing...

So you have to read about my day.

Today I went to work. Then I came home. Robbie is here. He got a new cat. She is Two Face's little sister. I think he should call her Ivy, but she has no name yet. She is very cute. After I changed we decided we would go pick up Catherine and go shopping for some kitten stuff. On the way out, I DID NOT back into Robbie's car in the driveway. Don't listen to what anyone else tells you.

Anyway, we went to pick up Catherine from her friend Cady's house. She left us a message to pick her up at 5. So we went there and no one was home. So we went back to the house to see if she got dropped off. Nope. So we went back again (they don't live far) and there she was. They had gone to the grocery store.

Then we went to PetSmart. Robbie bought his kitten the necessities and we got some minnows for our turtle to eat.

Then we went to Carls Jr for some burgers. I had a Western Bacon Cheeseburger. It was so good. Carolynn tried the new chicken strips.

Then we went to Lowe's to buy a bundle of firewood.

Now we are home. David and Robbie are totally geeking it up around here. They are supposed to be packing up the kitten and her stuff.

I am watching Unwrapped.

And that is my day. Enjoy.

A Day In The Life

A Return Surprise

Frankly, I have gotten to the point where, when I work in the Special Housing Unit, I am going to see something I didn't want to. This day was no exception.

I was picking up the lunch trays. (It was the same day as this one.) I opened the little trap door and an inmate handed me the trays. I placed them on the cart. I collected the trash. I went to close the door.

And there it was. The inmate was standing with his penis hanging out the trap door. I slammed it shut before I got anymore surprises.

It's a good thing he was a quick moving inmate. He could have gotten a surprise of his own. He started swearing at me. I wrote hm up. I doubt he cared.

They never care. Most of the ones that do that kind of nasty stuff have a stack of incident reports that all say the same things...
